There are various rate options for staying at The River Club but if you are on the FULLY INCLUSIVE RATE the following activities are available to you at no extra cost.
Just half an hour’s drive from The River Club are the mighty Victoria Falls – known by the locals as ‘Mosi–oa-Tunya’ or ’The smoke that thunders’ as the spray and the sound of The Falls can be seen and heard from many miles away. The Zambian side of the falls provide a completely different vantage from that of the Zimbabwean side and during high water levels is definitely the best place to be. N.B. We provide umbrellas, but in certain areas you could still get soaked, and unprotected cameras will get wet. Towels await you in the vehicle. There is a good curio market here for any interested shoppers. It is advisable to carry a jumper or anorak as the journey may be in an open vehicle. Allow approximately one to one and a half hours at The Falls.
At around 5pm, walk down to the riverbank to board our boat for a leisurely sundowner cruise up the Zambezi. When the Captain sees fit, he will switch off the engine and let you drift silently downstream passing the odd elephant, hippo or croc and an abundance of colourful bird life. Enjoy the snacks and drinks provided. The sunsets are particularly beautiful during the dry months. It is wise to take a jersey or anorak as an evening breeze can be chilly. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars too. The trip arrives back at The Club just after sunset!
A short drive takes you to a typical local village where you will be shown all aspects of African village life. This is a not a tourist ‘set up’. It is an authentic village where you will see life as it really is in rural Africa. Allow approximately one hour at the village.
The highlight of a game-viewing trip in the Mosi-Oa-Tunga Zoological Park is the chance of seeing a White Rhino, probably the only remaining ones in Zambia! The park is home to a wide variety of animals including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, elephants and buffalo, but if you spot a lion or a leopard, you may have had too much wine at lunch as there are no big cats in this park. Drives are approximately three hours long.
After breakfast take a leisurely stroll down to the boat where The Club’s fishing tackle and bait is already waiting for you. A cooler box of drinks and mineral water is available on the boat. Fishing trips return to The Club before lunch. Please ensure you have a hat and sunscreen with you.
There is a 2.2 kms running track around the property and it is well sign posted. The yellow route is slight shorter (900m) and the red route is (1.3km). Open between sun rise and sun set.
There is an all weather tennis court and raquets and balls are available for use.
