The Main Building, known as The Zambezi House, is an impressive Edwardian-style entertainment area with high plantation ceilings. Converted from the original farmhouse built in 1948, it provides a wonderful setting for hosting guests at the lodge. The house has imposing views over a sweeping bend on the Zambezi River.
The large Dining Room can seat all guests at one sitting at the impressively long teak dining table although most meals tend to be served outside on the elegant terrace or the poolside.
There is a comfortable Sitting Room with fireplace and a small Library with an interesting collection of books, journals and board games. There is wifi internet access throughout the main building and to most areas of the property.
The Gift Shop sells clothing, jewellery, postcards, books, curios and crafts.
7 x Riverside chalets with downstairs bathroom and second toilet on bedroom level.
2 x River suites, Rhodes and Livingstone, with plunge pools on an outside teak deck in private gardens.
1 x Family suite, Litunga, with teak deck and plunge pool. Second bedroom with twin beds and outdoor shower.
The chalets are named after people who in their day played a special part in the history of the country. All are individually set within magnificent trees on the edge of the river and have impressive views over the Zambezi. All are West facing and take advantage of the spectacular African sunsets.
Each room is open-plan and beautifully decorated with furniture and fittings made from Rhodesian teak wood and include wifi access, mini fridge with bottled water, digital safe, hairdryer, reading lamps, small library, writing desk and a sitting area. Large mosquito nets swathe the beds combined with an electric fan and air-conditioner/heating units to provide a comfortable flow of air above the beds. Each room has a bath, shower, shaver socket and “loo with a view” over looking the river. Screen doors can be opened to give unimpeded views for those wishing to capture the scenery on camera.

The lodge is set on a 50 acre secure property with manicured gardens, where a guest can totally relax without having to go anywhere if they choose not to.
A magnificent Swimming Pool with one of the best views of Africa from its infinity vista. Pool loungers, private deck and hammocks complete the setting.
An all-weather hard Tennis Court and a central Crouquet Lawn and a 2km nature trail which can also be used as a running track for those who need to keep fitness levels topped up.
A Gazebo within the garden can easily convert into a small chapel for wedding ceremonies or private dinners, and a Summer House for those who would prefer some extra privacy and a Games Room with snooker table and dart board. This room can be utilised as a small Conference Venue and is fitted with a plasma flat-screen TV, projector, pull down screen and blinds.
The River Club has two 11-seater boats for cruises on the river, three 13-seater minibuses for airport transfers and excursions to Livingstone town and The Victoria Falls and one game viewer for safaris into the small nearby Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, the highlight of which are the white rhinos.
The gardens of the lodge provide a magical setting for weddings for a couple wanting to get away from it all or for a slightly bigger reception up to 100 guests (outside caterers are required for guests over 30). There is a beautiful sandy island which can be used for ceremonies between June and March depending on water levels (the Zambezi peaks between March and May). Religious and civil ceremonies can be catered for and a relevant minister can be contacted by the lodge in order that co-ordination of the special event can be done ahead of time. The lodge also has at its disposal a beautiful 1929 Rolls Royce which has been in Africa since 1930.
The area around Livingstone and The Victoria Falls is rich in history amongst many other things. The magnificent Victoria Falls themselves, the world famous bridge which spans the gorges , a hundred year old golf course, a Jewish connection dating back to 1898 as well as many unusual sporting events are but some of the interests available to visitors. Not surprisingly, there is an abundance of bird life including African Finfoot, Schalow’s Turaco (loeurie), African Skimmers and Rock Pratincoles amongst the more sought after by ornithologists and the lodge property supports over 80 species of indigenous trees. Perhaps the most important though is the work the lodge does with the local community and the villages of Sinde and Simonga provide interesting tours for guests who would like to see how the local people live and what benefits they get from being linked to The River Club.
